The Reconciliation That Leads To Peace

Object:
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
Peace with God! There are so many people in this world desperately searching for some little scrap of peace. The deepest peace is the one that comes to us through Jesus Christ, for in him, the God of the universe; the one who upholds it all second by second; the one who holds it all together, has reconciled, harmonized, and unified all things. There is therefore, nothing to fear. Using this text, we can talk about the deep peace the one who has died now knows; or, if appropriate, we can talk about how this person exhibited a deep peace in this life; and we can talk about how we might discover and appropriate that peace for ourselves.
