When Jesus Was A Little Boy
Children's sermon

Brian was three years old. He liked coming to Sunday school and hearing stories about Jesus. "When Jesus was a little boy, was he in your class?" Brian interrupted his teacher's story.
Mrs. Anderson was telling the boys and girls a story about Baby Jesus who was born in a barn in Bethlehem. Brian liked that story and reminded his teacher, "I was a shepherd."
"Yes, I remember what you wore," she agreed.
"I had a towel around my head."
Beth added, "I was Mary."
Mrs. Anderson asked the children, "I wonder what Jesus liked when he was your age that made him happy?"
It was then Brian asked, "Was Jesus in your class when he was a little boy?" because Brian knew that being in Mrs. Anderson's class made him happy. He thought it would make Jesus happy, too.
Mrs. Anderson smiled. "Jesus lived a long, long, long time ago, Brian, so he was not in my class when he was a little boy." Brian was quiet. He looked sad. His teacher asked, "What is the matter, Brian?"
Brian replied, "I'm so sorry for Jesus that he couldn't be in your class!"
Talk together: In our Bible verses for today Jesus thanked God for revealing, showing, hidden, important things to infants, children (v. 25). Why did Brian tell his teacher he was sorry Jesus couldn't be in her class?
Prayer: Dear God, thank you for people who love and teach us the stories about Jesus and the stories Jesus told. Amen.
