Using Scripture And Other Sources To Understand Jesus
Sermons on the Gospel Readings
One of most interesting places in our public libraries is the biography section. Since the invention of writing, people have written about other people of the past or present. Some biographies overlook the faults and inadequacies of the person about whom they write. We call these "hagiographies." In reading them we never learn that they were abusive to their wife and children, took bribes while in some public office, or sometimes shirked their duties. These glorified stories never tell us who the real person actually was.
