One of the most difficult jobs in any church is the staff person, usually a secretary, who is assigned the responsibility of dealing with those who come to the doors of the church seeking help. I was reminded a few years back while in another church just how difficult it really is. The secretary responsible for that job took a six weeks leave of absence, and I said, "Well, this is something with which I want to be in touch, so I'll do it." Wrong move! But it was interesting.
