(TWO FEMALE PROFESSORS WALKING TO CLASS)
GERRIE: (CARRYING BOOKS) Well, here we go again.
TOMMIE: (CARRYING BOOKS AND A RECENT NEWSPAPER) Are you ready for this class?
GERRIE: I guess I'm going to teach whether I am or not.
TOMMIE: You were a big help last night with my Sunday school lesson.
GERRIE: It was helpful to me, too. I learned a lot.
TOMMIE: I wouldn't have had the time to prepare my school lecture for today if you hadn't helped.
GERRIE: That's what friends are for, right? You've helped me enough. I do have a question about the lesson, though. I've been thinking about it a lot.
TOMMIE: What is it?
GERRIE: I know the fundamentals about your religion now. But I can learn about it until the facts run out of my brain, but that doesn't make me a Christian, does it?
TOMMIE: No. It doesn't.
GERRIE: I have to accept it as truth, right?
TOMMIE: Right. We call it believing, but it's more than what you've already done.
GERRIE: It's got to be more than just understanding the facts. I can understand the facts about what an elephant is, but that doesn't make me an elephant.
TOMMIE: Believing is living out what you understand truth to be.
GERRIE: I'm believing that the facts are true.
TOMMIE: Good. That's the first step. Next, maybe you can entrust yourself to the "Truth."
GERRIE: What?
TOMMIE: The "Truth." Jesus called himself the "Truth."
GERRIE: Oh, that's right, he did. Trusting Jesus, that's what you do.
TOMMIE: I sure do. Every day.
GERRIE: Every day. Do you mean I have to do this over and over?
TOMMIE: That's right. After you trust Him to get you out of the slavery of sin, you learn to trust Him with everyday things.
GERRIE: Like not burning the spaghetti.
TOMMIE: Oh, come on. That was an accident. I got interested in my Sunday school lesson.
GERRIE: We both did. I should have remembered it was on the stove, too.
TOMMIE: But I have learned to ask God's wisdom on everyday things. The problem is I don't always listen to Him.
GERRIE: That would be a good reason to trust your Savior. I sure could use some wisdom in my life.
TOMMIE: Well, why don't you?
GERRIE: I have. I mean, I think I have been, at least since last night's Bible study.
TOMMIE: Great.
GERRIE: I don't understand it all yet, but I really think I trust Jesus.
TOMMIE: Gerrie, it's what I've been praying for.
GERRIE: But, I still have a lot of doubts. Is that all right?
TOMMIE: Join the club.
GERRIE: I'm proud to be a member.
Love Jesus.
