We find it easy to celebrate Jesus' coming at Christmas, but Ascension Day goes by mostly unnoticed. Well, why not? How can we celebrate the absence of the presence? However, don't we do this every Sunday morning as we recite the creed, "He ascended into heaven?" After saying this all of these years, do we know what it means? It appears to us as a most incredible story, and it raises many questions. If we take the story literally as Luke does in Acts 1, what can we do with it in light of our modern knowledge of outer space?
