When we elect a person...

When we elect a person to the office of president, we not only want a person who is a good leader and aware of the problems of our nation, but we also want someone who has a strong faith in God. We have been disappointed in the past with the ethical standard of some of our national leaders.
One president which most Americans have admired has been Dwight D. Eisenhower. Not only did he bring an end to World War II in Europe, he also served as a good president with high moral standards. He tried to do that which he saw as God's will.
No doubt much of this attitude in the life of Eisenhower developed in his early years at home. As he talked about his mother to a friend, he said, "My mother was a devout Christian. She believed in Jesus. The Holy Bible gave her perception, understanding, insight and wisdom.
"One cold winter night," he continued, "my mother and we boys were playing Flinch in our Kansas farmhouse. My mother dealt me the worst possible hand and I began to complain. She looked at me and said, 'Dwight, that hand was dealt to you in love. It's just a game and your mother dealt the hand. But when you get out into the world you're going to be dealt many a bad hand with no love in it. Now I don't want you to complain. Remember, that no matter how bad your adversity, God and the Lord Jesus will help you.' And he has," said the president.
As David was raised up as a great leader for his people, so shall there be others raised up in like manner in the future -- those who will come out of Christian homes.
