Two things are extremely dangerous...
Illustration
Two things are extremely dangerous for a mountain climber -- the serious mountain climber who uses ropes and pitons and all that, not just the ones who walk to the top. One is fear. The other is lack of fear.
On the one hand, fear paralyzes. You tighten up and become tense. It inhabits the freedom of movement and expends needless energy. One who is afraid is apt to stumble and fall over or make a serious mistake.
