The story of King Midas is indeed a tragic one. Legend has it that he adored gold so much that he longed to have as much of it as possible. He only thought of gold and how he could not have enough of it. Indeed, he longed for everything he touched to be turned into gold. Finally, as is the case with so many great legends his wish was granted and everything he touched was turned into gold. It was only when his wish became reality that he understood the folly of what he had asked.
