An only son, Jonathan, had been groomed all his life to take over the family business after graduating from college. He had observed his parents enjoying the good life, with so-called "business" trips to foreign countries and luxury vacations. Dad had taken him to the office occasionally on weekends, and he was duly impressed with a huge office in a skyscraper overlooking the city and the river. He imagined business lunches with colleagues in the finest restaurants.
When he joined the firm, he was prepared to live luxuriously in the manner of his parents. Instead, he found himself spending eight hours a day on a boring assembly line. The country was in a recession, and he received a minimal salary. Next he had to visit suppliers and negotiate the best prices for raw materials. Finally he found himself making cold sales calls to convince manufacturers that they actually needed his product.
Another only son, Jesus, learns what it takes to rescue humanity from the mess it has gotten itself into. He learns the hard way, too, that to provide salvation, he must suffer for the sins of others. Before assuming a heavenly throne, he must experience trials and tribulation.
