One wonders at the audacious faith of the writer of Revelation. Although the Colosseum in Rome held 100,000 persons and a room in the catacombs would be crowded with but thirty, yet John could foresee a time when every creature, in heaven and on earth, would sing with one voice eternal praises to Christ! Although this vision has yet to be fully realized, we must remember that in slightly over two centuries after Revelation was written Christianity became the official religion of the Roman Empire. This new faith spanned most of the known world. The growth of the early church clearly affirms the observation of W.S. Mooneyham that "the strength of a church is not revealed by how many people it seats, but how many it sends." -- Bristow
