One of the most beautiful and impressive buildings in the land is the White House. There lives the President of the United States and his family. Since it is surrounded with guards at every entrance, one cannot just walk into the White House. No, a person needs credentials, and even then one will have to pass through various checking stations.
There's a high iron fence around the White House and its grounds. You can walk right up to the fence and look. You can stand there a long time and try to imagine what it's like for the family that lives there. But that's as far as you can get, unless you're qualified to go through one of the gates.
God was in such a big house with a high fence around it, and all people could do was to get a glimpse of him from time to time. People stood around and discussed what God is like and what God is doing.
Then Jesus came along and took the fence down. He opened the doors and invited us all to come on in. He said: "God is our Father." We're not on the outside looking in, wishing we could enter. Children of God, we can be with him, in his very presence!
