In that tremendously interesting play written in 1921 by the Italian author, Luigi Pirandello, Six Characters In Search Of An Author, there is a novel plot. A group of players have come together in the playhouse for the purpose of rehearsing a new play, and suddenly they are interrupted by six spirits or characters. The manager asks them why they have appeared there, and the characters say that they are very interesting characters but that they have been sidetracked. The manager wants to know what they would like him to do about it. The reply is that the characters want to live in him. I suppose that is a very good place to start a sermon on the Holy Spirit, "Characters in Search of an Author," --characters who want to live in individuals"; Characters and abstract projections wanting to become a reality; the Holy Spirit in search of persons, ones in whom he can live.
