"He who believes in me, as the scripture has said, 'Out of his heart shall flow rivers of living water.' " (John 7:38)
Believers become channels of life to others Just think of all the people, unknown to ourselves, who have contributed so greatly to our safety, to our food and homes, and to our quality of life. They are channels of life.
A poet, W. W. Gibson, has a remarkable poem called, "Hands," in which he imagines himself sitting by the fire in his living room, thinking of the people who have helped make that living room -- those who mined the coal, made the chairs and draperies and "porcelain and sea green glass." He imagines that those hands can be heard tapping like fingers on the window.
Why not look around right now, right where you are, and try it, too? It ought to make you feel warm and good, and not quite so lonely.
