"I don't believe in the old gods, I believe in science," said a beautiful, supposedly
enlightened, television character.
Have scientific advances made belief in God passé? Earlier generations attributed lightning strikes, thunder, volcanic eruptions, and the like, to the gods' displeasure. But knowledge of electricity, plate tectonics, and randomness, makes God seem unnecessary to some.
If you question God's place in the universe, consider this: First, the Bible states that God created the universe. Many scientists say that it came about because super-dense materials had a big bang. Is it less rational to believe that intelligent power created everything that exists than to assume that matter, or at least its potential, has always existed?
Second, when attempting to explain phenomena, it's never wise to exclude any theory. It's unempirical to exclude God from one's list of possibilities concerning origins. Doing so reflects unscientific bias against religion.
Third, no person has ever seen radio waves. We know of their presence because we utilize their power. Similarly, we can't see God, but we benefit from his power, love, and intelligence. What a shame when the greatest unseen power goes untapped. Since you are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, give thanks.
