The giant redwood is...
Illustration
The giant redwood is one of the world's tallest trees. It can tower almost 370 feet into the sky and have a trunk twelve feet in diameter. The tree is a marvel of paradoxes: the seed from which the tree grows is only one-sixteenth of an inch long; the wood is very soft, yet is remarkably resistant to disease, insects, or fire; and it is valued by carpenters for its durability. The tree often lives for many thousands of years.
The redwood, like many other wonders of nature, affirms the creativity of God. This tree is easily brought to mind by Joyce Kilmer's "Trees."
