Fork in the road: emptiness or fulfillment
About this Third Sunday of Lent, Fat Tuesday and Ash Wednesday are memories for those in the broader American Secular Age (as author Charles Taylor titles his book). Spring is some distance away in many areas of the country. What does one have to "look forward" to in terms of a next big event in one's life? In my community choices include: going to new movies, eating food at restaurants, attending sports events, procrastinating on filing income tax forms, and hoping the winter weather is not too bad this year. Is this all there is to life?
