"Peace be with you." There are so many ways of describing peace. Many of them have to do with tranquility. But the biblical understanding of "peace" is not just absence of conflict. In fact, "peace" as used biblically usually describes some sort of action.
I guess I like Charlie Brown's definition best of all, at least for a starter. Charlie, in one of those situations where everything seems doomed to give him trouble, says "Peace is not needing to know what will happen next." How great! How fine! How truly biblical!
