Here we are, the Sunday after the sentimentality and excesses of Valentine's Day. Some of us will arrive at church with fond memories of cards and chocolates, perhaps a special meal with a beloved partner or family. Others will arrive having done our best to ignore the holiday. And still others will arrive with renewed tenderness around loves lost to death or broken relationships or around months or years of living alone while longing for love. Children and teens may or may not have received valentines from cherished friends and secret crushes.
