Baseball is a great team...

Baseball is a great team game. A winning pitcher or the player with the most hits may look like the star of the game. However, other players may make just as important of a contribution without getting much attention. A fielder might make a good play at a crucial moment or the middle relief pitcher might hold the score close until the big bats can come up. A batter might move a base runner to second or third base even though he makes an out. In the end that might lead to an important run. These things will not show up in the box score but sometimes are as important as the one with the win or the big hit. Doing those things helps the team even though it may not bring much attention to the individual. Here Jesus was like that. He was thinking of the team, not himself. He sacrificed himself. What looked to the world like just another execution on a cross was a sacrifice that was made so that we might share in the victory over death.
