After leading the fourth worship...

After leading the fourth worship service of the day, I was tired, hungry, grouchy, and
burdened. All of the perfect planning of music, liturgy, homiletics, and more had not
moved the congregation as I had hoped. It was perfect from my perspective. The theme
was woven all through the service. Everything fit perfectly. I was impressed with my
cleverness, my humor, and my knowledge. As I was leaving my study to go home, one of
my "little old ladies" came in and said, "Pastor, the service this day was perfect if you
wanted to impress royalty. We're not royalty here -- we are God's people. If you want to
have a 'Hollywood Production' you'll be disappointed. Our Lord Jesus simply wants our
hearts." On that note she turned and left the office. I understood immediately what Isaiah
meant: I had done it all for me and not for the one who has called me.
