"The gift"
Children's Activity
Object:
Parents: The focus at Christmas is children. The gifts we
give them are tokens of our love for them. The greatest gift
they will ever receive is the Lord Jesus Christ. Whatever you do
to instill faith in them is the best you can do in the sometimes
difficult task of parenting.
* Take time tonight to have family devotions as part of your
Christmas eve celebration.
* Read the Christmas story as a family. Make this a sharing
time.
* Share with your children memories of past Christmases:
family or your own childhood memories.
* As the text tells us about Jesus' birth, share with your
children the stories of their births. How are they gifts to you
and to the world in which they live?
* This year Christmas Eve happens to coincide with the
Jewish festival of Hanukkah, which is the Jewish festival of
lights. It is an eight-day commemoration of the rededication of
the Second Temple in 165 B.C.
