SHARING THIS WEEK'S GOSPEL THEME AT SUNDAY SCHOOL AND AT
HOME
Materials:
Homemade clay (recipe below)
Toothpicks
Yarn
Paper plates
Directions:
1. Make the clay. Older children can make the clay as a group or it can be made the day before and stored in an airtight container.
2. Give each of the children a fist-full lump of clay on a paper plate.
3. Help the children make stone tablets from their clay.
4. Tell the children to use their toothpicks to write "I will obey God's commandments" on their clay tablets.
5. Instruct each of the children to poke a small hole near the top of their tablet.
6. Allow the tablets to dry.
7. Give each of the children a piece of yarn to be strung through the hole in the top of the tablet.
8. Let the children take their tablets home on the paper plates or let the tablets completely dry, then let the children take them home next week.
Clay recipe
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup salt
1/2 cup warm tap water
Food coloring (optional)
Mix the dry ingredients, then pour in the water and stir well. Knead the mixture for five minutes. Add food coloring, if desired.
