The Village Shepherd
Dead In Sin?
Sermon
In the last sixty years the concept of war has dramatically changed. It dramatically changed in the thirty odd years between the First World War and the Second World War. Gone forever, thank goodness, are scenes from the trenches of men covered in mud and blood and gore, terrified out of their minds, literally in some cases, by the guns and artillery of the enemy. And men whose lives were cheap, for they were expected to stay at their posts even when there was no hope whatsoever of victory.
