Inspirational And Devotional Illustrations
Have you seen the initials W.W.J.D. on various objects, like bracelets and buckles, used by modern Christian youth? They stand for What Would Jesus Do? When faced with a moral decision of right or wrong, they find help in these words. They go on to think: Would Jesus get drunk? or: Would Jesus gamble? W.W.J.D.
Actually, it all goes back to the book In His Steps by Reverend Henry Sheldon, written many years ago. The idea is based on Scripture: "Because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you should follow in his steps" (1 Peter 2:21 KJV). In the book, Pastor Sheldon used the thought, "What would Jesus do in daily life, in business, and social affairs?"
Dr. Glenn Clark of Macalister College, after World War II, wrote a sequel What Would Jesus Do? bringing it into more recent times.
This concept of W.W.J.D. has also been helpful to many people in this new millennium.
