Call To Worship (Isaiah 11:6)
The wolf shall live with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the kid, the calf and the lion and the fatling together, and a little child shall lead them.
Collect
Lord, we hear today from your prophet of old the universal call to all people to meet you on your mountain. This day we shall in our spoken and in our silent prayers strive to climb that mountain of prayer, drawing strength from each other and most of all from you. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Yes, Lord, yes, we confess to you today the many sins that we have committed have widened the gulf between us and you and your people. Grant to us in our worship today the assurance of your forgiveness and the strength of your vision for peace. Amen.
Hymns
"O Come, O Come, Emmanuel"
"Let Our Gladness Have No End"
"Lo, How A Rose E'er Blooming"
Second Sunday Of Advent
Second Lesson: Romans 15:4-13

Call To Worship (Romans 15:7)
Welcome one another, therefore, just as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.
Collect (based on Psalm 72)
One: Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, who alone does wondrous things.
All: Blessed be his glorious name forever; may his glory fill the whole earth. Amen and Amen.
One: May the mountains yield prosperity for the people, and the hills, in righteousness.
All: Lord, defend the cause of the poor of the people, give deliverance to the needy, and crush the oppressor.
One: While the sun endures, and as long as the moon, throughout all generations,
All: Let your people be like rain that falls on the mown grass, like showers that water the earth.
One: Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, who alone does wondrous things.
All: Blessed be his glorious name forever; may his glory fill the whole earth. Amen and Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Heavenly Father, the Apostle Paul felt confident about his brothers and sisters, near and far, that they were filled with goodness, all knowledge, and the ability to instruct each other. Remove the barriers in our midst that prevent us from seeing the gifts which have been showered on your congregation. Open our eyes, that we may see your Son in those who share this space, this place, and this world. Amen.
Hymns
"Sing Hallelujah, Praise The Lord"
"In Christ There Is No East Or West"
"Open My Eyes, That I May See"
Second Sunday Of Advent

Men: so that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, we earnestly pray for the coming of your kingdom. Lord we desperately pray for your peace in this world. We know you have not left us powerless and hopeless. Come, O Lord Immanuel, and be present with us. Amen.
