What If The Christian Faith Was Gone?

There is a vital principle presented to us in a book by Henry Rogers; years ago he wrote The Eclipse Of Faith. There he set forth the idea that the influence of the Christian faith had been mysteriously wiped out. Nothing was left that touched people with Christ.
What about the many churches and Sunday schools? They were gone! Also, the para-church organizations, like the Salvation Army, and the YMCA, no longer existed.
He turned to art and discovered that all of the greatest paintings, such as Raphael's Sistine Madonna, and da Vinci's The Last Supper were gone; and all the best works of sculpture also had disappeared, for they were Christian in purpose.
The Bible was gone, as were the millions of Christian books; and devotional literature of all kinds were conspicuously absent from libraries, and even from people's homes!
So, too, with the finest of music: Handel's "Messiah" and the Bach "Chorales" as well as hymns and gospel songs were gone.
It touched every area of life. If we take away the Christian faith, we soon realize that the most effective forms of human understanding could not have reached their highest and best without the divine influence of Christianity.
What if the Eclipse Of Faith presented by Henry Rogers came true? There are forces in our world who have threatened to cause it to happen. Can we believe that enough persons will not let that happen?
