Camp Wesley, located six miles north of Bellefontaine, Ohio, was originally the site of a government environmental project. After a dam was built and a lake of more than twenty acres was formed, the Lima District of the Methodist Church bought it in the 1940s for church camping.
The sloping west shore of the lake was bare except for a few thorn bushes and some unsightly weeds.
Reverend Dwight Woodworth, a Methodist pastor from Tipp City, Ohio, had a dream of that bare land covered with evergreen trees. He convinced enough other people of the dream so that work did begin on that bare land.
A "Work Day" was scheduled when Boy Scouts from Tipp City, along with other volunteers, set out several thousand small evergreens on that hillside. The weather was favorable and now those trees reflect in the water by the light of a late afternoon sun.
Now we realize that pastor Woodworth's dream has come true to the glory of God.
May we, too, have such lofty goals for life.
