ever written was the one of Ernest Renan, written in the last
century. Describing the crucifixion of Christ, Renan vividly
portrays the events of Calvary. As Jesus breathes his last Renan
has this to say:
"Rest now in thy glory, noble initiator. Thy work is completed;
thy divinity established ... Henceforth, beyond the reach of
frailty, thou shalt be present, from the height of thy divine
peace, in the infinite consequences of thy acts .... At the price
