An Historical And Spiritual Guide To The Nicene Creed
Recently I had come alive for me a part of our religious
heritage that is so familiar to us that we sometimes become
oblivious to its power because of its continual presence. It is
that gem of the faith encoded in those words:
"We believe in one Holy Catholic and Apostolic church."
It is a declaration which the Apostles' Creed, which at that
moment was taking its own initial shape, enhanced with the
finishing explanation, "the communion of saints." These words
from the Nicene Creed are such old friends that they have the
heritage that is so familiar to us that we sometimes become
