(Today the puppet is wearing the "girl's wig." I call her Petra. On top of her head, she is wearing a paper doily with a ribbon to tie around her head)
Pastor: Good morning, Petra! How are you? I know I shouldn't ask, but what is that silly thing on your head?
Petra: Yes, by all means, you should ask -- and it's not silly.
Pastor: Well, pardon me! But you must admit it does look silly. You still didn't tell me what it is. Are you planning on someone setting a piece of cake on your head?
Petra: Now who's being silly? No, that shows that I'm a waitress! You've seen waitresses who sometimes wear little hats ... and I'm a waitress for the Lord!
Pastor: Ooh, now I see! Yes, I think that's great! We should all do our jobs "for the Lord." But say, I didn't know you were a waitress ... Where do you work?
Petra: You never do understand! I don't have a job as a waitress. I'm a waitress for the Lord!
Pastor: Yes, yes, you already said that. I know ... you're just "waiting" to tell me all about it, so go ahead!
Petra: Well, that's better. Do you remember in church last Sunday we read in Isaiah 40:31, "Those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength ..."? Well, I want to be like that, so I'm going to "wait upon the Lord."
Pastor: ... wait for the Lord? Now, wait a minute! There's that word again! How are you going to serve the Lord his dinner?
Petra: Sometimes I think you don't even try to understand! What a waitress really does is to stand by and be ready to do whatever her master needs done. I guess that's how I want to be with the Lord -- standing by, ready and waiting. Now do you see what I mean? That's how I'll serve him.
Pastor: Yes, yes, I do. I guess I never thought of it just like that. Yes, in fact, that's very good. "Those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint." ... Yes, Petra, it really does make sense. Now, where can I get one of those little hats?
Petra: Aw, come on, don't tease. I've gotta go now.
Pastor: Hey, wait for me!
