A GOSPEL TREASURY
Poems Based on Lectionary Gospels
If I should tell you, 'In the air
above the western hills,
the sky is laced with cloud and smog,
’twould hardly give you thrills.'
If I should say, 'The evening sun,
refracted and dispersed,
has shortened up its wave-lengths
as in clouds it is immersed,
Would analyzing such as that
bring happiness to you,
or wouldn’t it be better
just to share the sunset view?
So Jesus didn’t analyze
who He was called to be.
He just told those who spoke to Him
that they should, 'Come and see.'
above the western hills,
the sky is laced with cloud and smog,
’twould hardly give you thrills.'
If I should say, 'The evening sun,
refracted and dispersed,
has shortened up its wave-lengths
as in clouds it is immersed,
Would analyzing such as that
bring happiness to you,
or wouldn’t it be better
just to share the sunset view?
So Jesus didn’t analyze
who He was called to be.
He just told those who spoke to Him
that they should, 'Come and see.'
