"Have any of you ever found something that surprised you because it was in a place where you didn't expect it to be?" The children think about this question a moment, then a few of them nod affirmatively.

"Well, I have too, several times just recently. The Friday after Thanksgiving I was visiting the Churchill Memorial in Fulton. Walking outside to see the newly acquired section of the Berlin Wall, I noticed something shiny in the grass. When I went to investigate, guess what I found?"

"A dime?" one child asks. I shake my head negatively.

Object: The object of the lesson is a gesture you will teach the children.

Note: The gesture used both hands. Hold both hands in front of you and make the thumbs-up sign with both hands with both thumbs pointing back at your chest. This is the “ME!” gesture. Then simply rotate your hands back so your thumbs are pointing straight up in the air, like two “OK” signs. This is the “US” gesture.
