Lectionary Worship Workbook
Series III, Cycle A
Object:
Confession And Forgiveness
P: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, + and of the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen.
P: You shall not hate in your heart. You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself.
C: We are guilty, O God, of creating burdens for others to bear. We are guilty, O God, of expecting others to do what we are unwilling to do. We do not practice what we preach. We set ourselves up as little gods. We have turned from you time and again. Humble our hearts, that we might be cleansed.
Silence for self-examination
P: May the God of all the ages set you free to live as a servant filled with kindness, humility, and grace. In the name of God, Father, Son, + and Holy Spirit, your sins are forgiven. Rise now to sing his praise.
C: Amen.
Hymn Of Praise
Holy, Holy, Holy
Prayer Of The Day
P: Gracious God, there is the part of us that the world sees and there are the parts that we keep hidden; and it is in that need to keep that hidden part hidden that we set ourselves above others. Help us to let go. May we find new strength in our vulnerabilities and satisfaction in our service to you, through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
C: Amen.
Offertory Prayer
C: You alone are our teacher, you alone are our God. We lift these gifts to you. We lift our lives to you, that you alone would be exalted, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Benediction
C: Send us out strong and free,
humble and helpful;
that your name might be glorified in our lives,
and your goodness known to all people.
P: In the name of the Father, and of the Son, + and of the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen.
