Series VII, Cycle B
Call To Worship (Psalm 34:18-19)
The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and saves the crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord rescues them from them all.
Collect
Constructive God, we come to build this day not with bricks and boards, though you have called us to that ministry, but with hearts and wills dedicated to your kingdom. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession (1 Kings 8:27-28)
But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Even heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain you, much less this house that I have built! Regard your servant's prayer and his plea, O Lord my God, heeding the cry and the prayer that your servant prays to you today. Amen.

Call To Worship (Ephesians 6:10-12)
One:
Be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his power.
Men:
Put on the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Women:
For our struggle is not against enemies of blood and flesh, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
Collect
Accept the offering of our hearts today, Lord of choices, as we demonstrate through our love and effort that today and every day we will serve you. Magnify our praises as we set our wills toward the work of the kingdom in this world. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, too many of us have come this day believing the most important choice we will make is where we will eat lunch or what we will watch in the afternoon. Today and every day you call upon us to take a stand, for you and against the powers of the world, for your kingdom and against the comforting lies that dull our passion for your good news. Today, Lord, in word at least, and with your help our hearts as well, we take our stand to serve you, to love you, to praise you, to choose you. Amen.

Call To Worship (John 6:68-69)
Lord, to whom can we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and know that you are the Holy One of God.
Collect
God we are gracious for these words of eternal life. We praise you, adore you, and serve you. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord Jesus, your gospel offends the world, but defends the outcasts, marginalized, forgotten, and forsaken. We have come to believe you are the Holy One of God. We will risk the anger of the world. In our worship today we praise you. We choose you, who chose us before the creation of the world. Amen.
