Object:
a little surprise package for each child. Your surprise can be anything from a picture to color, to a treat, to a sticker, to whatever is available to you in an amount to cover the number of children present.
Purpose: Helping children to find joy in each day.
Material: Prepare a little surprise package for each child. Your surprise can be anything from a picture to color, to a treat, to a sticker, to whatever is available to you in an amount to cover the number of children present.
Lesson: Have you ever had a nice surprise? ... What is a nice surprise? ... (Something nice happens to you that you did not expect to happen.) We have surprises happening to us every day. When someone gives you a smile and says hello to you, that is a nice surprise. Do you know what you will have for dinner today? ... Maybe it will be a nice surprise. When you watch television, you do not know what will happen in the story you are watching. ...That is a surprise. Each day is filled with nice surprises and, therefore, we should look forward to each day and be happy with all the nice, new things that happen to us.
You see, each day is special. Long ago a person who had faith in God discovered that each day was filled with many wonders and surprises and he wrote: ''This is the day which the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it'' (Psalm 118:24).
Now, I have a surprise for each one of you, but I want you to wait until you get home to open it. And have a nice, surprise-filled day.
