Gentle Words In A Raging Storm
Prayers for all occasions
God of our ancestors, Lord of our lives,
you have called us to this proud land to build a home
where no one is a stranger.
You have allowed us to taste the sweet fruit of
freedom,
to enjoy worshiping you without fear of punishment
or persecution,
to speak our conscience and say what we believe,
and to learn how to live with and to love people that
are different from us -- people from foreign lands,
people of diverse language, custom, color.
Because you first loved us,
we have learned how to be more loving,
you have called us to this proud land to build a home
