People: We are called to share what we have with the hurting and the poor.
Leader: Let us celebrate our mission and let us always give God the praise.
All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
Almighty and wonderful God, it is beyond our human minds to comprehend You or even Your creation, yet You have called us to share in Your ways by caring for and loving others. We praise You, Lord. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
O Lord, so often we fail to realize that when You call us to care for others and to be faithful in our witness to Your love, You are also calling us to share in Your kingdom, Your greatness, and even in true life itself. Forgive us, Lord. Open our hearts that we might again joyfully proclaim Your Gospel to be true because we have once again experienced it. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"He Leadeth Me"
"Alas! And Did My Savior Bleed"
"Close To Thee"
Seventh Sunday After Epiphany
Second Lesson: 2 Corinthians 1:18-22
Theme: Being faithful and true to Christ
Call To Worship
Leader: Sing praises unto the Lord, for in Christ alone we have been redeemed!
People: Not by our own righteousness or even by our deeds are we saved.
Leader: Only in Christ do we find the truth and the way that leads us to God!
People: Then let us be faithful to Christ and proclaim God's love openly.
Leader: Let our voices be raised loud and clear. We are saved only in Christ!
All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
O God, we are so grateful You have opened the door for us to be a part of Your kingdom and ministry in our world today. Soften our hearts that You might use us freely. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, we have tended to forget You died for our transgressions, and instead we begin to feel we ourselves are somehow worthy to be in Your presence. Forgive us, Lord, and help us keep in mind the truth of our redemption that we might reach out openly, even to others who are different and not like us, with Your life-giving and redeeming Good News. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"Redeemed By The Blood Of The Lamb"
"I Stand Amazed In The Presence"
"O Happy Day"
Seventh Sunday After Epiphany
Gospel: Mark 2:1-12
Theme: Jesus, the forgiver of sins
Call To Worship
Leader: Let all who have been forgiven of their sins give praise to the Lord!
People: For who among us is worthy to enter into the House of the God?
Leader: Only Jesus was truly worthy. But Christ calls us all to come to God.
People: Then let us joyfully enter that all might hear of God's greatness.
Leader: Let our voices be raised in song and praise before Almighty God!
All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
O merciful and gracious Lord, even while we were yet deeply in our sins You saw fit to die for us and call us to repentance and offer us forgiveness and grace. We thank You, O Lord. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
O God, so often the world has told us You do not love us and You do not care, and we have listened. Too often we have lived so as to deny that Jesus was born and walked among us, proclaiming Your love. Forgive us, Lord, and help us keep our focus on Your gift of love, that when we hear the voices of doubt we might stand firm for the truth. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"Rejoice, The Lord Is King"
"Hope Of The World"
"Stand Up, Stand Up For Jesus"
