Messages For Children On Lent And Easter Themes
A wise old archer, training two young men to shoot arrows that would hit the target, asked the first what he saw. The student replied that he saw the sky, clouds, trees, leaves, and target.
The teacher said, "You are not ready."
The second student stepped up and put the arrow in his bow.
The teacher asked, "What do you see?"
He said, "I see the target."
The teacher commanded, "Shoot!"
The arrow hit the target and the teacher explained, "When the only thing you see is the target, your aim will be straight."
Talk together: This is Lent, when we think about Jesus and his "aim," his goal. What do you think was Jesus' goal, Jesus' aim? Why do you think he "set his face to go to Jerusalem"?
Prayer: Dear God, help us remember to ask your help and direction always, so that we may do your will, following Jesus. Amen.
