Obligation, Liberation, And Contemporary Christian Conflicts
The Senate chaplain opens every workday of the U.S. Senate with a prayer. He provides pastoral care to senators and staff members, and is available to all workers -- from cooks to committee chairpersons -- some 6,000 people in and around the Senate. In addition to performing marriages and funerals, he is known for leading Bible studies, counseling people on ethical issues, and being supportive and helpful to all. When the current chaplain retires, I believe that his position should be abolished.
