Worship
Lectionary Worship Aids
Series VI, Cycle A
Object:
Theme: Rejoice In Your Redemption
Call To Worship
Leader: Praise the Lord, all you people.
People: We will glorify him; and make his ways known throughout the earth.
Leader: Declare that the Lord our God is a great God.
People: He is worthy of our worship, and of the praises we sing to his name.
Invocation
O God of the Ages, source of all creation, and sustainer of all life, we set aside this hour as a time of wonder, in which we reflect on the mystery of life.
We set aside this hour as a time of thanksgiving, as we consider the good things of the past year.
We set aside this hour as a time of worship, as we honor you as the God of love and majesty.
We set aside this hour as a time of dedication, as we renew our commitment to the healing of your world. Amen.
Confession
Almighty God, we know that we should be joyful, for you have promised to redeem your people, and with the coming of Christ you have kept your word. Yet it is still hard for us to keep from hating our enemies, and even our sorrows give us a strange sort of satisfaction. Forgive us, Lord, and set our hearts free so that we may not only experience the joy of our salvation, but may also help others to discover that joy. Amen.
Offertory Prayer
We thank you, God of the Ages, for this opportunity of investing in eternity; for your people will live forever and your kingdom will never come to an end. Amen.
Hymns
"O God, Our Help In Ages Past"
"He Leadeth Me: O Blessed Thought"
"Good Christian Friends, Rejoice"
