Second Sunday Of Advent
Worship
Lectionary Worship Aids
Series VII, Cycle C
Object:
Gospel Lesson: Luke 3:1-6
Theme: Get Ready For God
Call To Worship
From out of the desert, the voice of one crying,
As prophets once perched in the past had foretold
And all who are curious come to see trying
To look past the sackcloth and hear the Lord's Word.
Collect
Lord, you prepare a way for us in the wilderness. We strive to prepare a place for you in our hearts. In the midst of distraction and confusion we gather to praise you, proclaim our love for you and for each other, and commit ourselves to your service in all things. Your Word stands forever. Your glory is revealed. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, hear our prayers. Hear what we say, and what we do not say as well. Allow us to mirror, if only imperfectly, your perfect compassion in all we say and do. Allow us to extend the grace to others that you have extended to us. Bless us and make clear for us the opportunities for ministry to each other that have been revealed in our worship together. These things we pray in the name of the infant Jesus, who is revealed to us in this season. Amen.
Hymns
O Come, All Ye Faithful
While All Around The Bells May Ring (see page 266 of the printed book version)
