Second Sunday Of Advent
Worship
Lectionary Worship Aids
Series VII, Cycle C
Object:
First Lesson: Malachi 3:1-4
Theme: My Messenger
Call To Worship (based on Malachi 3:1-4)
Lord of this season and every season, we see that you are sending a messenger to prepare the way for the Lord. We know the messenger of the covenant is the one in whom you delight! Yet we wonder, with all the trappings of the season, all the distractions, and our exhaustion and expectations, who can endure the day of your coming, and who can stand when you appear? We praise you because you are like a refiner and purifier of silver. We count on you to purify us until we can present to you a perfect sacrifice of righteousness, this praise we offer up today. May our lives be pleasing to you as in the days of old and in former years. Amen.
Collect
Send us, O Lord, to warn your sleeping people. Goad us, and guide us, grant us time enough to proclaim that if we are tested then with your strengthening, we may prove pure as gold in your service. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
We give of ourselves to your kingdom, seeking no return, save the knowledge that you are the first giver, the best giver, who will be able to take our lives and from our humble confession fashion a vessel of obedience. Bless us this day. Amen.
Hymns
Come, Now Is The Time To Worship
Spirit Of The Living God
Here I Am, Lord
