Call To Worship
Leader: Let all who would proclaim the word of the Lord gather now for worship!
People: We have heard the Good News of Christ, and we would share it with the world.
Leader: Let us carry Christ to every nation and to every people on Earth.
People: Only as we share Christ will others come to know God's salvation.
Leader: Then let our hearts be joyful as we boldly proclaim the risen Christ.
All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
O God, in Your wonderful mercy and grace You have honored us to be among Your family. As Your children, You have called us to spread the Gospel of Christ for all to hear. We praise You, Lord. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, so often when You have called us to carry Your word into the world we have not been willing to stand boldly for You. We have even refused to be different because people might notice us and think us strange. Forgive us, Lord, and call us again to proclaim Your Good News of salvation in Christ in every land and to every people. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"Here I Am, Lord"
"Christ For The World We Sing"
"We've A Story To Tell To The Nations"
Proper 8
Sunday between June 26 and July 2 inclusive
Second Lesson: Galatians 5:1, 13-25
Theme: The freedom of God's love
Call To Worship
Leader: Let us lift our voices in praise to God for our redemption!
People: We were once bound not only by sin but also by the yoke of the Law.
Leader: But Christ has called us to freedom that we might truly love one another.
People: In Christ the Law became alive as we work for peace and harmony.
Leader: Then let us celebrate our freedom in wonderful song and praise to God!
All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
O God, in Your infinite wisdom You gave us freedom so that we might truly know Your love and share it with others. Help us use our freedom wisely, Lord, to help and care for our neighbors. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
O God, too often we have not remembered the price You paid for our freedom. At times we have so taken our freedom for granted that we have sought only the desires of our hearts and we have not loved one another or cared for our neighbors as ourselves so that we might know Your peace or the wonderful joys of life You meant us to have. Forgive us, Lord. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"Jesu, Jesu"
"Let There Be Peace On Earth"
"Wonderful Peace"
Proper 8
Sunday between June 26 and July 2 inclusive
Gospel: Luke 9:51-62
Theme: Follow first the Lord
Call To Worship
Leader: Let us gather together and give praise to the Lord!
People: We would serve the Lord wherever God would send us.
Leader: Christ has called us to carry the Gospel to every part of the earth.
People: But life's demands are heavy and we have much yet to do this day!
Leader: Only those who serve Christ first can truly know the Kingdom of God.
All: Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Collect
Almighty Creator God, in the midst of the rushing world around us You have called us to hear Your voice and to follow You. Give us ears to hear and strength to follow faithfully. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Prayer Of Confession
Lord, so often we let everyday life come before Your call on our lives. We get so busy with the routine matters that we fail to hear Your call to share the Gospel. Forgive us, Lord. Give us the ears to hear the cries for help and the eyes to see those around us in need, that in reaching out we might truly be Your Church today. In Christ we pray. Amen.
Hymns
"O Jesus, I Have Promised"
"He Is Lord"
