Lectionary Worship Workbook
Series III, Cycle A
Object:
Prayer Of The Day
P: God of our Redemption, nothing is beyond your care. As you open wide your embrace for even the tiniest of sparrows, open wide our arms that we may give one another the courage to live out your goodness in this day and in the days to come. In the name of Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, through all ages of ages.
C: Amen.
Intercessory Prayer
After each petition:
L: God of grace,
C: take away our fear.
Offertory Prayer
C: O Lord, let us lose our lives, that we may at last find them in you. As we lift these gifts before you, may your light lead us where you want us to go for the sake of him who gave himself for us, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Eucharistic Prayer
Use Eucharistic Prayer from Epiphany 4.
Benediction
P: United with Christ in a death like his;
C: united with Christ in a resurrection like his;
P: may you live with him forever.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, +
and the Holy Spirit.
C: Amen.
Dismissal
A: The Lord delivers all those who call upon him.

Liturgical Dance/Congregational Movement
Today's second lesson from Saint Paul's letter to the Romans lends itself easily to congregational embodiment. Such a physical rendering of the text can often help people to experience the grace of the text in a different dimension. It is yet another way to pray the scriptures. Here are the directions, verse by verse. They can be done sitting or standing and can be freely adapted. Three or more dancers may face the congregation, providing visual leadership. You may practice the movements with the congregation immediately preceding the reading of the text, so that they follow the dancers while the text is being read without simultaneous verbal instructions.

2: arms down at sides, fists clenched
3: right hand extends upward and then slowly comes down toward face in a repeated flowing motion
4a: two hands slightly extended in front of body, pushing in a downward motion
b: hands now turn upward, closer to the body, closer to the chin
5a: arms extended to the side as in a crucifixion, fists clenched
b: arms still extended but slowly turn palms up and open
6a, b: hands brought in to rest on belly
c: hands crossed move to the heart
7: hands, chest high, are held in a position of prayer
8a: left hand resting on chest, right hand extended upward
b: left hand also extends upward
9: hands continue to slowly reach higher
10: arms fully extended, palms upward
11a: hands, chest high are held in a position of prayer
b: hands and arms open and extend toward the neighbor
