Proper 6
Worship
Lectionary Worship Aids
Series VI, Cycle A
Object:
Theme: Be Hospitable To God
Call To Worship
The Lord is gracious to us and looks upon us with love. The Lord understands us and extends his hand of grace. The Lord hears our prayers and is sympathetic to our needs. So come, welcome the Lord. Open your hearts and minds to him with boldness. Worship the Lord with joy, and serve the Lord with gladness.
Invocation
O Lord, as we come to worship today, we would welcome you. We ask for the confidence of faith, that we may recognize you and approach you without distraction or faltering. Grant us an assurance of your presence and a certainty of your love; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Confession
Lord, grant that we may overcome our disbelieving hearts and our doubting minds. Like Sarah of old, we are often tempted to laugh at your promises and consider your goals outrageous. By your Spirit strengthen our faith and restore our confidence in your power. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Offertory Prayer
Lord, we pray: "Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven." Now as we lay our gifts before you, we say that prayer again -- not with our lips only, but with our actions. Hear our prayer, O Lord. Amen.
Hymns
"O How I Love Jesus"
"There's A Wideness In God's Mercy"
"My God, I Love Thee"
