CALL TO WORSHIP
Receive God's message, not as the word of men, but as what it truly is, the very word of God at work in you who hold the faith.
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Heavenly Parent, strong as any father, gentle as any mother, we are dependent on you for both life and sustenance. Forgive our moments of pride when we act as if we did not need you. Rabbi above all other rabbis, teacher above all teachers, forgive us if at times we act like know-it-alls, unteachable and dogmatic about what we do and do not believe. Leader, anointed one, forgive any move we make to displace you, whether in exalting ourselves in places of authority or in giving to others the honor due only to you. Be patient with us, as a parent dealing with immature children, for the sake of your mature child, Jesus Christ. Amen.
DECLARATION OF GOD'S FORGIVENESS
Hear the Good News! Those who humble themselves will be exalted. Friends, believe the Good News from God! In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven.
EXHORTATION
Achieve true greatness. Be a willing servant of those around you who are your brothers and sisters.
PRAYER OF THE DAY
By your words and by your lifestyle, teach us Rabbi - Messiah to speak your word graciously and to serve others humbly, that we may not exalt ourselves only to be brought low by your judgment. Amen.
PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING
Gracious God, we thank you for your call to enter into your kingdom and glory. We are grateful that your living Word is at work in us to prepare us for worthy service in your realm. We express our thanksgiving for the advice and encouragement of our fathers and mothers and our brothers and sisters in the faith, and all who have imparted to us your good news. We will show our gratitude by committing ourselves to others in the same kind of caring ministry, sharing your loving word, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
PRAYER OF DEDICATION
O God, help us to give and live, worthy of the call into your realm of glory, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
PSALM 107:1-7
O give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;
for his steadfast love endures forever.
Let the redeemed of the LORD say so,
those he redeemed from trouble and gathered in from the lands,
from the east and from the west,
from the north and from the south.
Some wandered in desert wastes,
finding no way to an inhabited town;
hungry and thirsty,
their soul fainted within them.
Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble,
and he delivered them from their distress;
he led them by a straight way,
until they reached an inhabited town.
He turns rivers into a desert,
springs of water into thirsty ground,
a fruitful land into a salty waste,
because of the wickedness of its inhabitants.
He turns a desert into pools of water,
a parched land into springs of water.
And there he lets the hungry live,
and they establish a town to live in;
they sow fields, and plant vineyards,
and get a fruitful yield.
Receive God's message, not as the word of men, but as what it truly is, the very word of God at work in you who hold the faith.
