A Call To Worship
Worship Aids, Lectionary Year B
Call To Worship (based on Psalm 16)
One: Protect me, O God, for in you I take refuge.
All: I say to the LORD, "You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you."
Women: The LORD is my chosen portion and my cup; you hold my lot.
Men: The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; I have a goodly heritage.
Front: I bless the LORD who gives me counsel; in the night also my heart instructs me.
Back: I keep the LORD always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
Young: Therefore my heart is glad, and my soul rejoices; my body also rests secure.
Old: For you do not give me up to Sheol, or let your faithful one see the Pit.
All: You show me the path of life. In your presence there is fullness of joy; in your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
Unison Invocation
Lord of time, we praise you for the precious moments we have today to praise your name and seek your will for our lives. For most of us the boundary lines have fallen in pleasant places. We are luckier and more privileged than most people the world over, and better off than many in our communities. Call us to service and sacrifice, and bless us in our time together today. Amen.
Morning Prayer (based on Daniel 12:1-3)
Lord, how we wait for our protector. How we wait for our deliverance. You have said that many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. We know that those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever. Satisfy our longing, Lord, for your justice. Satisfy our yearning for your salvation. Satisfy our hope for your reward. Amen.
Offering Prayer
Lord, we thank you for the work of our church board members. We thank you for all the gifts given today. Amen.
Children's Benediction
