How right he was when Jesus said,
'The two shall be as one,'
when there’s a real marriage
and the Father’s will is done.
For then there is commitment
on the part of man and wife
to working out the problems
that come into every life.
We find that joy is doubled
when, in love it can be shared
and troubles cut in half
so their full burden can be spared.
And in a real marriage,
there is more that can be said
of the way we grow together
and the way our souls are fed.
