A Call To Worship
Worship Aids, Lectionary Year B
Call To Worship (based on Psalm 34:1-8)
One: I will bless the LORD at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
All: My soul makes its boast in the LORD; let the humble hear and be glad.
One: O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.
All: I sought the LORD, and he answered me, and delivered me from all my fears.
One: Look to him, and be radiant; so your faces shall never be ashamed.
All: This poor soul cried, and was heard by the LORD, and was saved from every trouble.
One: The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them.
All: O taste and see that the LORD is good; happy are those who take refuge in him.
Unison Prayer
Lord, if we are radiant, it is because the light of your love is shining off our faces this morning. We are your people, and you have remembered to call us together. What a blessing at all times it is that we can gather together in your name and become your people. What a greater blessing that a feast in your honor is planned today. We will not forget the sacrifice of Jesus, and will continue to follow his example in bending our knees and washing the feet of our sisters and brothers, breaking the bread of the Love Feast, and sharing the cup of the new covenant, which brings life to all. In our time together we see you. Be present with us today in our worship and in our Love Feast. Amen.
Morning Prayer
What a privilege, Lord Jesus, to abide among your people today! What a joy it is to stand and sit and kneel with sisters and brothers in Christ. We are close to you when we are close to each other, and closer still when we pray with the words you taught us, saying in one voice:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
Offering Prayer
Lord, this day and this day only we have the chance to answer this day's call. Bless us as your people in our giving and in our living. Amen.
Children's Benediction
